Grayson Highlands in the state of Virginia and is the location of Mount Rogers Virginia's tallest mountain at 5729' above sea level. The environment is extremely diverse with alpine mountain tops and thick jungle like forest in the lower elevations. I recently traveled to where the James River and the Maury River connect in the town of Glasgow, Virginia. I had been hiking and exploring this area for a few years since I discovered Otter Creek which flows many miles through Amherst County. The photo on the left was taken where Otter Creek empties into the James River near the town of Big Island.
I took a trip to Dark Hollow Falls in Shenandoah National Park one day in the fall of 2014. It was a cloudy mild slightly rainy in the forest that day. Upon arriving at the trailhead I discovered a sign reading "warning nuisance bear in the area". I started down the trail not knowing whether or not I would see this animal.
Devil's Marbleyard is a geologic feature in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, it is within the James River Face Wilderness. The hike from Belfast Creek is roughly one mile of moderate climbing. The Devil's Marbleyard itself is very strenuous to hike because the feature is mostly large boulders and requires a lot of balance and is very dangerous because of the uneven surfaces.
Printing is ultimately how all photos can best be viewed and professional framing will protect the print from damage. Always print and matt using archival grade materials and frame to seal the photo in an air tight environment, this keeps harmful elements in the air from damaging the paper and ink. Photos should always be dry mounted to a archival grade board so that the print stays flat and does not buckle. The flat the surface the better.
This photo collection is from Cold Harbor National Battlefield. The photos were taken During Spring of 2012. Cold Harbor is located in Central Virginia in the city of Mechanicsville and is the site of a major battle during the civil war. The Battlefield is now a park where visitors can go to see the trenches and sites of the battles and also has a very nice system of trails for hiking.
